Cannabis Consumption: Smoking vs. Ingesting and its Impact on Wellness

β€œβ€˜To Eat or to Smoke, that is the question.’ - William Shakespeare”  - YANA

At YANA Cannabis Wellness and Creativity Center, we delve into the ongoing debate between smoking and ingesting cannabis. As more states legalize cannabis, understanding the health implications of different consumption methods is essential.

Smoking vs. Ingesting Cannabis:

Smoking cannabis, whether through joints, bongs, or vaporizers, offers immediate effects and dosage control. However, concerns about lung health lead many to prefer ingestion methods like edibles or oils. Ingesting cannabis may take longer to take effect but is often considered safer for lung health and offers longer-lasting relief.

Health Risks of Combining Cannabis and Tobacco:

A study by Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC) highlighted in the Journal of Psychoactive Drugs sheds light on the risks associated with smoking cannabis with tobacco. It reveals that combining these substances can compound health risks, emphasizing the importance of choosing safer consumption methods.

Edibles and Physical Activity:

Contrary to stereotypes, a study by Gillman, Hutchison, & Bryan (2015) found that 71% of cannabis users in legalized states enjoy physical activities more when consuming cannabis before or after exercise. This challenges the notion that cannabis use diminishes motivation for fitness, suggesting that methods like edibles could enhance the workout experience.

Cannabis Industry and Breaking Stereotypes:

The growing cannabis industry in the U.S. and Canada is actively breaking the lazy stereotype associated with marijuana use. With the emergence of cannabis tourism, wellness centers, spas, and themed cafes, the perception of cannabis is shifting towards a tool for wellness and relaxation.

The debate between smoking and ingesting cannabis highlights the importance of personal choice and health considerations. At YANA, we encourage exploring various cannabis consumption methods responsibly, aligning them with your wellness and fitness goals.
